This fantastic modernist design is a contender for the most un-churchlike church in Rome. It was designed by Saverio Busiri Vici, and completed in 1971. The plan is irregular, although based on a rectangle, and there is no axis of symmetry. Some of the outside walls are battered (slope inwards), and some are vertical and that behind the altar has both a horizontal and a vertical curve, rather like part of a tortoise. Four enormous horizontal concrete flanges run around the church, giving it a pagoda-like appearance. There are no obvious windows in the exterior, and the roofs are flat and at different levels. There is a campanile, a rather discreet cylinder attached to the top of the left hand frontage.

Inside, the vast space has hardly any decoration. However, there is a notable sculpture by Vincenzo Mussner Gregor of the ''Visitation''.

However, there is a notable sculpture by Vincenzo Mussner Gregor of the Visitation.
