Santa Maria a San Vittorino is in Via di San Vittorino, in the village and district of San Vittorino. Pictures of the church on Wikimedia Commons. [1] This church is in the municipality of Rome, but belongs to the diocese of Tivoli. It was built in 1703 and is the second church in the village, being situated on the road to Rome.
Exterior
It is a very simple little building. The façade has two pilasters on the corners and a plain stone doorframe, above which is a shield showing the Barberini bees and then adedicatory inscription on a small tablet. Above that is an oeil-de-boeuf window. The sides of the church have a cornice which runs round to the façade but stops at the pilasters, the short sections of it here replacing the pilaster capitals. The roofline is in the form of a truncated wave. There is a small brick campanile to one side, like a tiny square factory chimney in brick.
Interior
The tiny interior is in white, with cream trim. The sanctuary has a pair of windows either side, round-headed with porthole above and enclosed in a stone arch in relief painted cream. The Baroque altar is in pink and grey marble, and above it is a large icon of the Madonna and Child in a green marble frame, set in a white marble glory containing putti.
