Santa Maria Immacolata a Torre Angela is a 20th century public dependent chapel of the parish of Santi Simone e Giuda Taddeo a Torre Angela , and is located at Via Giovanni Rizzi 15, on the west side of the suburb of Torre Angela north of the Via Casilina.

The patronage is of the Blessed Virgin Mary, under her aspect of the Immaculate Conception (the Diocese does not seem to regard the chapel as formally consecrated).

History[]

This is the chapel of a school run by the Sisters of the Immaculate of St Clare of Fiuggi (Suore dell'Immacolata di Santa Chiara di Fiuggi). They were founded in the Lazio town of Fiuggi in 1781. Although they use the Rule of the Poor Clares, they are an active sisterhood devoted to teaching.

The Scuola Elementare Maria Immacolata was founded for the suburb in the mid 20th century, and the sisters allow the chapel to function as a public Mass centre.

Appearance[]

There is nothing of architectural interest here. The school building is a four-storey block, with a pair of three-storey side wings, and is a flat-roofed concrete structure with red brick cladding.

Liturgy[]

According to the Diocese (June 2018), Mass is celebrated publicly on Tuesdays at 9:00, and Sundays and Solemnities at 10:00.
