The Roman Catholic Church is the largest particular church within the Catholic Church. Due to the dominance of this church – not just in the number of members, but also in the fact that the Pope is also Patriarch of this particular church – the term is also often, though imprecisely, used of the entire Catholic Church, including the Eastern Catholic Churches.
